How to pick a Season 5 gun
Season 5 dropped on July 23, 2026. The meta settled fast. New Battle Pass guns jumped the old staples.
Pick one long-range rifle and one close gun. Do not stack two ARs. Do not run a hipfire SMG as your only weapon on a big map.
Ranked wants easy recoil. Pubs can take the Gremlin. Objective modes can take an LMG and hold a lane.

Start with the FG42. Then fill the hole it leaves. That is the whole Season 5 plan.
FG42 — the rifle to unlock first
The FG42 sits on page 3 of the free Battle Pass. It is full-auto, mid-to-long range, and easy to track. That is why it is the safest rifle in the game right now.
Build for recoil, a suppressor, and a mag that does not dry on a double spray. Do not chase max ADS if you hold lanes.
Best SMG BO7 picks
The best SMG BO7 rusher is the Gremlin. It is dual-wield. It cannot aim down sights. Hipfire and movement do the work.
If you want a normal ADS SMG, take Sturmwolf 45 or Dravec 45. Sturmwolf hits harder up close. Dravec is the easier beam when you slide into a room.
Ranked and flex guns
M15 Mod 0 is still the clean Ranked AR if you want less drama than a new Battle Pass gun. VX Compact is the hybrid: AR stability with SMG-speed movement.
TR-2 is the semi-auto pick for players who already tap well. Mammoth is the LMG for locking a bomb site or a long hallway.
How to pair these guns

A meta gun still loses if you swing a stacked angle. ESP shows who is holding the lane before you peek. Loot ESP is less of a multiplayer issue, but the same overlay helps when you hop into Warzone with these rifles.

Use it when you defend. Hardpoint, Control, and long sightlines. Do not drag it into a small map if you cannot ADS in time.
